Show Mew Interstate Proposal Would Aid Grand County By C. Sharp Utah's Highway Department Depart-ment is making four proposals propos-als for adding 151 6 miles of Utah roads to the interstate system. The No. 3 proposal of Utah is to add 123 mik-s of U. S. 50 and G from near Green River to Spanish Fork to the interstate system. This would provide a northwestward north-westward outlet from 1-70 now being built from Denver to Cove Fort via Green River. Ri-ver. Should this be done, Pr.'ce would be on the freeway free-way system. Travel time to Salt Lake City would be cut down considerably because of the divided non-access highway high-way which would be built. Grand, San Juan and Emery counties would likewise be benefited. The No. 1 and No. 2 proposals pro-posals for adding Utah roads to the interstate system are for an East Valley Freeway from the mouth of Parley's Canyon to 5th North in Salt Lake County and for construction con-struction from 6400 South and the Van Winkle Expressway to 1-80 at 11th East. These two sections would be expensive expen-sive because of the cost of right of way. They total only 12.5 miles. A No. 4 proposal is to add the mountain road from Lagoon La-goon to 1-80 at the mouth cf Weber Canyon to the interstate inter-state system This section is 10.9 miles long. Presumably the 1,500 miles will not be built until after 41,000 miles of currently planned plan-ned interstate roads are constructed con-structed probably about 1975. |
