Show Noted Colo. River Authority Dies in California Mrs. Margaret Carthwait? Marston, the first grandmother grandmo-ther to make a water transit of the Grand Canyon, died in Berkeley, Calif., following a long illness. She was 76. Mrs. Marston, a navigator of the Colorado River, was the wife of Otis (Dock) Marston, Mars-ton, leading authority on the history of the fast water navigation na-vigation on the Colorado River, Ri-ver, and had made many trips on the river in the past 20 years She was instrumental in creating the Alumni Association's Associa-tion's employment service at the University of California and was instrumental in forming the Berkeley youth yymphony program in Berkeley. Berk-eley. She also initiated the use of policewomen on the Berkeley force. She is survived by her husband, hus-band, two daughters, Mrs. Br 'an Rowlands, Koss, Calif.; Mrs. Russell Miller of Corte Madera, Calif.; and a sou, Oarth Marston, of Seattle, Wash. The Marstons aided in the river directions of the Walt Disney movie, "Ten Who Dared," that was fJmed m Moab. |
