Show MACKLIN DOESN'T THINK THE NEGROES ARE GUILTY ONES WASHINGTON, April 2A-Capt. Ed-' gar A. Maeklin. of. company C, Twenty-fifth Twenty-fifth infantry, testified yesterday in the Senate Brownsville investigation. He said today that, after he had examined the garrison to ascertain the effects of the shooting and, finding no damage there, he went outside the gate and at the mouth of an alley not far from the garrison wall he found six cartridge clips and seven cartridge shll-f - he type used for the Springfield rifle. These shells were found in a circular space about ten inches in diameter, which he declared to be an impossible position unless they had been placed there by some one. Capt. Maeklin said he hail done everything possible to discover who did the shooting, including the eareful questioning of the men of his command. Senator Foraker asked the witness to give his opinion as to who did the shooting. shoot-ing. Maeklin said: "Well, I don't think the men did it." |
