Show AND NOW HILTON GETS HIS PAY Attorney Who Prosecuted His Own Client Is Recompensed Recom-pensed by County; Another An-other Mystery. A claim of $300 In favor of O. N. Hilton was allowed by the Board of County Commissioners yesterday afternoon. after-noon. Hilton Is the Denver attorney who came to Salt Lake as counsel for W. H. Parrent, self-confessed crook and sure thing man, who was the principal witness against Chief Sheets in the conspiracy con-spiracy charge. After the case had been opened County Coun-ty Attorney Willard Hanson asked that Hilton be associated with him in tho prosecution. For tho first tno in the history of jurisprudence in this State, if not in the country, the spectaclo of an attorney assisting in the prosecution prosecu-tion of his client was presented. But there was a method in the apparent ap-parent madness of Hilton. Parrent, the self-confessed criminal, was allowed to go- on his own recognizance and now the County Commissioners allow a claim of $300 for legal services rendered ren-dered by Hilton. The eorrectnpss of the amount is certified to by Willard Hanson, County Attorney of Salt Lake county. Another claim for a similar amount in the same case was approved by the County Commissioners yesterday afternoon. after-noon. It was that of "J. Rosen." Tho claim Avas approved by Sheriff Emery and Deputy Sheriff Joe Sharp signed the receipt as agent for Bosch, who, it is claimed, is a l)enver officer who assisted as-sisted in the capture of Parrent. Just why Roschdid not collect and sign for this money is another Parrent mystery. |
