Show GOLD MEDAL WAS WON BY COLESON Prize Offered by The Telegram Tele-gram Drew Many Fast SKaters Into the Race; Another Race On. The final roller skating race for the State championshhip and the gold medal offered by- THE TELEGRAM, took place at the Auditorium rink Saturday night before the largest crowd of the season. The race was an exciting one, and there was a surprise when the finish came and Coleson crossed the line first by a good margin. Charley Wilkinson, former State champion, was out of tho race after' the fourth lap. He claimed that one of the contestants fouled him and he quit the race. His dropping out was due to a misunderstanding mis-understanding of the rules governing the race. He immediately issued a chaN lenge to race Coleson for THE TELEGRAM TELE-GRAM medal and for a side bet of from $100 to. $300. It is quite likoly that a race between the two speedy skaters will be arranged by the management of the Auditorium. The attraction at the rink this week will be a race between Bert Fuller in an automobile and Earl Lamont on roller skates.' The latter believes he can beat tne machine. They will start from opposite sides of the track and the race, will be for one mile, best two out of three. . The'flrst race will take place at 9:30 tonight. The second heat is scheduled for. Wednesdav and the third for Friday Fri-day evening. The racers will go sixteen lags. - |
