Show THE LONGFELLOW CENTENNIAL. , This is Longfellow day in the East, the centennial centen-nial of his birth. Boston will celebrate the day with appropriate honors. He was a great scholar; a great though, not the greatest American poet, a noble American citizen. A few of his old friends, Ms contemporaries con-temporaries still remain. They today are calling his name, reading" his poems, telling the story' of his life doing honor trf his memory. He has been dead a quarter offa century, but he is not dead to Boston he never will be, for with Boston, "he is not dead, what seems so is transition" . i y |
