Local officials of the eompany said today that it will be a week or ten days before the road fully resumes operations. Every day that goes by without through traffic on the system means a loss or thousands of dollars, and a certain cer-tain amount of prestige. That which has taken years to establish in the way of business and reputation, is now practically prac-tically wiped out, it is said, by rains and heavy snows. - - . . . Reports arriving at the local offices of the eompany this morning state that the weather is clear in the country surrounding sur-rounding the damaged track, and has been for the last three or four days. Every available man has been sent to the damaged section of track to hurry the work of repair. Wires are kept hot with orders to rush the work, and officials of the road are laying awake at night hoping that the word will come that the track is again clear. Trains are still running no further than Modena from this end, and to Las Tegas from the west end. Mails have not been delivered since the washout, wash-out, except, in some instances, by overland over-land carriers. |
