Show UTAH SCHOOL 1 ROLLS CLIMB Utah's school population Is nearly near-ly on a par with that of 1938 the first time in three years that a heavy decline has not been noted, according to a report issued Wednesday Wed-nesday by the state board of education. edu-cation. The student population Is now 145.323, a decline of 87 below 1938. the report, which was prepared by J. Easton Parratt, director of research re-search in the state office, shows. Fifteen districts reported increases. in-creases. Granite led the list with the largest number, climbing from 8838 in MM to 9115 at present. Other districts showing more students stu-dents were: Alpine, Davis, Emery, Jordan, Nebo, Park City, San Juan, Tintic. Tooele, Wasatch, Washington. Washing-ton. Salt Lake City, Provo and Murray. Carbon was the only mining district dis-trict to show a decline. Rural areas reveal the most noticeable drops. Ogden city schools, however, decreased de-creased from 11,317 to 10,958 this year. Also 68 girls and 43 boys have been permitted te leave school to get married. Only 11 boys and girls between 10 and 18 are unable to read and write, revealing a high percentage of literacy. |
