That was the statement of Dr. Henry Noble MacCracken, president presi-dent of Vasssr college at Pough-keepsle, Pough-keepsle, N. Y, upon his srrival in Sslt Lake City Wednesdsy. Dr. MacCracken, who Is msklng a nation-wide tour In an effort to raise a $2,000,000 fund for scholar-shlps scholar-shlps for the college, is to speak at a banquet meeting of Salt Lake City alumnae of the college Wednesday Wed-nesday at 7 p. m. Reuben Clark Jr. and others attending. at-tending. He visited Bingham Wednesdsy afternoon. Dr. MacCracken Is the second oldest college president In the United States, In point of service. He is celebrating his twenty-fifth anniversary, and the college is celebrating cele-brating Its seventy-fifth anniversary anniver-sary this year. "The most Interesting feature of modern education," Dr. MacCracken MacCrack-en said, "is the realization that technical training in specisl fields should not be begun too early. Educators sre getting swsy from the Idea of prescribing training for students, and allowing them to study broad general courses." He said he did not see any particular par-ticular advantage or disadvantage to limiting a college to either sex. "If a student wsnts to learn, hs will do so whether he Is st a coeducational coedu-cational institution or not." Vasssr college plsns sn anniversary anniver-sary celebration June 7, 8 and 9, Dr. MacCracken said, and added that 25 books written by members of the faculty will be published as a feature of the celebration. He declined to comment on the different methods ot education in use throughout the country, saying say-ing he was not familiar with education educa-tion in the west, and that while he was In favor of a four-year high school course, the shorter courses might have advantages.
