Show Floods and Wind Harass Oregon PORTLAND, Ore, Feb. 38 LTV Ftood waters and a sudden wind storm harassed rain-soaked Oregon Ore-gon today. At Ashland, where swollen Ashland Ash-land and Bear creeks washed out two bridges and a section of the canyon road, damage was estimated estimat-ed at several thousand dollars. A crew of 34 men worked throughout the night sandbagging diversion dams. The southern Oregon Ore-gon city's main power and water aupply dam was safe, but Ita 800 acre feet capacity was overtaxed and water swirled over the top. Parts of Lithla park. Inside the city limits, were flooded. The Bear creek bottom lands were under several feet of water and the Mountain avenue bridge waa gone. North of the city the Charles Koyle house was swept off Its foundation. A torrent poured through the four-foot-high windows win-dows of the Chateau night club. Portland recorded the heaviest February precipitation since 1905 with a total of 10.53 Inches of rain for the month. |
