V j The group, which grew out of ; ideas advanced a decade ago in "Union Now,' by Clarence 8 1 re it, advocates a federal union of western west-ern democracies within the United Nations. Such action, members contend, will enhance possibilities for world peace and prosperity. Other officers of the local chapter chap-ter include Mrs. George H. Smeath, secretary, and Dr. Helmut G. Calais, Cal-ais, profeasor of history. University of Utah; H. Grant Ivlna, former regional administrator of the office of-fice of price administration, and Betty Glad, an outstanding 1949 graduate of the U. of U., executive execu-tive committamen.
