Show SLAUGHTER OF BILLS H:usc Begins to Clear the Desk at the Elcrcnth Hour. After dragging through yesterday morning tbe House seemed in a bad humor hu-mor during the afternoon session and made an enviable record slaughtering bllla. One Representative was heard to remark that had this policy been adopted a month ago. there would now be some prospect of completing the work of- the session without stopping the clock for three days. It took the House Just two minutes to slaughter H. B. U7 providing that an. employee who Is injured-by reason of defective tools or a fellow-servant may have the same right of recovery as though be were not an employee. H. B. in, providing for the recovery of money lost at gambling from the boss gambler or any of the little gamblers gam-blers or the owner of the building, lost its enacting clause and perished. The enacting clause of H. B. 104, relating re-lating to bonding for water, light or sewers, was stricken out. Condon's Initiative and- referendum measure was killed in a similar manner man-ner and no voice was raised in its defense. de-fense. A similar fate, awaited H. B. 63, by Hamlin, regulating the practice of attorneys at-torneys in City courts. Intended to keep attorneys for collecting agencies from appearing and confessing Judgment for alleged debtors. . The House made short work of H. B. 108, by Hamlin, when It came up on third reading. The bill was Intended to prevent the removal of registry agents without Just cause. A motion to strike out the enacting clause prevailed pre-vailed without a moment's debate. Members of the Utah bar do not necessarily nec-essarily have to be citizens of the State.- S. B. 129. requiring citizenship as a Qualification to practice in Utah courts, was killed by the House. It was a duplicate of H. B. 112, previously executed by the House. |
