Show FIREMAN IS INJURED BY ESCAPING STEAM Fireman William JefTs of the Oregon Short Line was severely scalded by escaping es-caping steam in the railroad yards yesterday, yes-terday, and was taken to St. Mark's hospital for treatment. He was acting as fireman on engine No. 587, and while shoveling coal into the firebox a flue burst, throwing a vol. ume of steam on his face and hands. He fell to the floor of the cab and was rescued res-cued by yardmen who were standing near by. This is the second accident of which Jeffs has been the victim. While he was working on the old Utah Central several years ago, he lost a leg by falling fall-ing from the running board of his en-glne, en-glne, and rolling under the wheels. |
