Show POCKET BURNED BY EXPLOSION Cartridge Bursts in Pocket of High School Cadet. (Special to The Telegram.) CAMP FORD FISHER. June 7.-Only one accident has marred the encampment and that was only slight. Robert Steel, one of the high school cadets, had a blank cartridge explode In his pocket. In some . manner the cartridge was struck and the percussion cap caused It to explode. ex-plode. In an instant the young man's companions were trying to assist him. The explosion caused bis coat to burn, but his injuries were only slight and will be healed in a few days. The heavy rain of yesterday caused some- serious doubts as to the advisability advisabil-ity of staying In camp. , Several of the tents were badly soaked. There are now two tents In each company that are not in use on account of the rain. The cadets ca-dets have been piled into the other tents of the company, while the wet tents are drying In the hot sun that is smiling on things here today. A baseball game will be played this afternoon af-ternoon between companies A and B. This is the first game that the cadets have been able to take part in since they landed land-ed here Monday morning. The ten-mile trip over the hills and mountains of Farmlngton canyon and the big sham battle will take place Saturday. It was to have been part of yesterday s programme, but the heavy rain made It impossible. This will be one of the big events of the encampment. Two companies compa-nies will be stationed in a position in the canyon and the remaining two companies will be placed as their opponents. They will endeavor to drive each other from their positions. |
