Show HENRY HARRISON UNDER ARREST Charced With Being the I Local Agent of a Lottery Lot-tery Company. Deputy Marshal L. H. Smyth yesterday placed under arrest Henry C. Harrison, who has for a number of years been a resident of Salt Lake City. Harrison is charged with violating the Federal anti-lottery anti-lottery laws. , The arrest was made on a warrant issued on an indictment returned before Judge Parlange of the rUnited States court at New Orleans, La, After receiving the, indictment yesterday yester-day Assistant United States District Attorney At-torney Pennel Cherrington Issued an order or-der for Harrison's arrest. The warrant was placed in the hands of Deputy Marshal Mar-shal Smyth. After Harrison's arrest he was taken before United States Commissioner Commis-sioner Baldwin, who fixed his bond at $1000. This was furnished by Councilman M. E. Mulvey and James McTernay. Commissioner. Baldwin has set the time for Harrison's arraignment at 10 o'clock Monday morning, at which time he will plead and a time fixed for his appearance before the United States court at New urieane. - The Government officials have been working for some time jto secure evidence against the Nicaragua "Lottery company, which holds Its drawings at Nicaragua, but has Its headquarters at New Orleans. It Is charged that the tickets for the lottery lot-tery have been sent through the various express companies, which is a violation of the Federal statute. Recently a number num-ber of tickets were found in the possession posses-sion of an express company. The tickets were confiscated and the names and addresses ad-dresses on the packages were kept. The officers of the lottery company and the agents were indicted. There were twenty-five indictments returned. It Is charged that Mr. Harrison Is the Salt Lake agent of the company. |
