Show 1 . A corporation has been formed and filed, consisting of the following persons, per-sons, Mrs. Hugh Park, Mrs. C. S. Kinney, Kin-ney, Mrs. W. V. Rice. Mrs. C. F." Adams," Mrs. C. H. McMahon, Mrs, Dusenberry, Mrs. ' Cory, Mrs. Benner X. Smith; Messrs! Stephens, M. M. Woods, -Sidney Bamberger, Jacob Greenewald, Willis Brown, Sam Bar low, C. S. Martin, making a directorship director-ship of fifteen persons. -These persons contemplate making a home for neglected and dependent children, and have already secured through the kind Intervention of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Rice a beautiful tract of land two miles east of Bountiful: consisting of 800 acres of fine rang and farming land, with abundant water facilities. fa-cilities. The idea is that -the farm shall be run on the cottage plan, ten to a cottage, with its own particular piece of ground surrounding the same, sufficient to sustain sus-tain its needs, each home to have Its mother and father at Its head. . The Immediate need of the farm Is a cottage to house ten boys costing In the neighborhood of $2000. - The present facilities of the old farm building only house the superintendent and adult help, the boys sleeping in tents near by. Already the association has adopted four boys and has applications applica-tions for as many more. It is thought that if . money for buildings is forthcoming forth-coming fifty boys could be cared for this first year. ' Money is also needed for the Immediate Imme-diate planting of trees, shrubs and plants. About twenty acres of garden ts already in and an alfalfa patch of eighty acres with the product of a dosen cows and 200 chickens Insures food for the ever-increasing family. With range f about ' 120 cres, well watered, stock-raising would prove a paying Investment, the possibilities of Canyon Crest ranch are many and great. . A plan to finance . this undertaking and put it on a self-supporting basis is being inaugurated by the city press, each newspaper to publish each day an article upon the work and needs of Canyon Crest ranch, with the names of donors to the $20,000 which It expects to raise. It Is planned to ask the bankers, merchants, raining, smelters and fraternal societies to each erect a building or contribute towards the con-tlngent con-tlngent fund. . - |
