Show PLATT TELLS Of THE TRIALS Of THE S. P. Howard V. Piatt, a former resident of this city and now division superintendent superintend-ent of the Los Angeles division of the Southern Pacific, is in Salt Lake on a visit. In speaking of the trouble which the road had with the rising water in the Salton basin. Mr. Piatt stated that it was necessary for the company to build a .number of "shoo fly" tracks In order to keep the roadbed from the reach of the water. ThU work cost a large amount of money but the company never missed running a single train. Mr. Piatt statea that the road is now built so high that there is no danger of the water ever leaching it. |
