Show BUSINESS IS BRISK ON MINING EXCHANGE by the controllers of the Snider process. Tire Latham is the first company to put the Snider process into actual operation and Its success at the Latham will without doubt lead to Its being Installed In-stalled at a number of properties which are troubled in their concentration operations by lack of water. The Latham management showed a most conservative spirit In the preliminary prelimi-nary testing of their ores and the mill Is bound to be a thorough success. MANY CHANGES PROBABLE IN BINGHAM PROPERTIES. There seems to be an undercurrent In the affairs of Bingham lately which portends big changes among the bonanzas bo-nanzas of that camp. The camp has come to be a big factor in the copper market of the world and any number of the big operators are sparring for an opening there. . . It is practically certain that Mr. Freeman, Free-man, who holds an option on the property prop-erty of the Ohio Copper company, is acting for the Guggenheim Interests and that those gentlemen will acquire the property.1 The inspection of the United States company's properties by J. Park Chan-ning, Chan-ning, for the Lewlssohn's. Indicates that they contemplate increasing their holdings hold-ings in Bingham if the report proves satisfactory. The listing of the shares of the Utah Copper company has caused the shares to move up from $5 to $10 with some of the biggest operators opera-tors in the country seeking them. The Amalgamated has been casting sheep's eyes at a number of Bingham properties for some time and the Inspection In-spection pf the Boston Consolidated by the Amalgamated experts is very liable to bear fruit. It is also reported from the East that a large block of Utah Consolidated stock has been picked up from the East stock has been picked up lately, although al-though It is hardly likely that the control con-trol of this property will change hands. Although none of the deals have as yet matured it is probable that the year will see some big deals In Utah's fere-most fere-most copper camp. COPPER BULLION OUTPUT. The base copper bullion output of the independent valley smelters during; the week shows a decided Increase. The total to-tal of the independent plans Is 955.096 pounds. To this amount must be added approximately 200,000 pounds from the American smelter, bringing the total for all the plants to 1.155,096 pounds, which is divided as follows: . Pounds. Bingham Consolidated 3M.917 Utah Con. (approximately) 365.417 United States 24 762 American 20oooo Tota! v 1,155.096 The market on the mining exchange showed a slight rejuvenation Saturday morning, principally because It was too disagreeable outside fcr the brokers to leave the bull ring. As is usually the case when the business Is brisk, prices showed a tendency to move higher and the general trend of the market was much stronger than has been the case for some days. A number of stocks which have not been noticed for some weeks recorded sales. AJax. which has been in some demand foe the last few days, opened the performance per-formance and sold strong up to 11 cento, although there was a slight fall at the close. Carisa was noticed for the first time In some days and sold at 104 cents, while Silver Shield was steady at 14 cents. Daly was strong and did quite an amount of business between $2.64 and $2.55. Horn Silver was marked up at $1.50. but little stock came out at that figure, which was freely offered. May Day was an active trader, fluctuating fluc-tuating between S4 and 8 cents, while Little Chief was steady at 2 cents. New York did not do the amount of business which was expected of it. but the price remained steady at 52 cents, with a large demand at that figure. Congor sold for 124 cents, and Nall-drivcr Nall-drivcr advanced to 474 cents. Wabash advanced more strongly than any stock on the list and was quoted at $1.90 at the close. The. Latham mines at Sprucemont, Nev., have decided on a plant that will double the capacity of the present mill now being installe'd for concentration purposes. The process used Is the Snider Sni-der dry concentrating process and this has proved Itself so perfectly adapted to the treatment of ores at the Latham properties that It was decided to double the plant even before the completion of the one now being installed. Dr. J. J. Snider, inventor of the process, pro-cess, and George L. Moats, manager of the Latham mines, left for the East Frl-Uy Frl-Uy night where they will arrange for the building of the necessary additional addition-al equipment. The expert testimony of Prof. Over-etrom, Over-etrom, metallurgist of the University of Utah, supplemented by his exhaustive tests of the Snider tables upon the Latham ores was a strong factor in bringing about the decision to begin treating the Latham ores with an enlarged en-larged llant. Prof. Overstorm is en-enthusiastic en-enthusiastic over the way the Latham ores respond to the Snider method of j treatment which he declares seems specially adapted to handle the metallic metal-lic contents of the Latham ores with the least expense and trouble. The Latham has an immense amount of milling ore blocked out and as soon as the plant goes Into commission will be in a condition of furnish all the ore the mill will be capable of handling. The recent decision of the Latham management marks a point from which ti payment of dividends is but a step regarded as a distinct triumph i |
