Iceive pay whether accepted or not The majority of the Judiciary committee reported re-ported against the bill, but Senators Johnson and Walton submitted a minority mi-nority report In favor of Its passage. When a motion was made to adopt the report of the committee a debate followed fol-lowed between Senators Lawrence and Bamberger against the bill and Senators Sena-tors Johnson and -Walton for it. The majority report was adopted by a close vote and the bill killed. The House amendment to Senate bill No. 13, providing for an appropriation of 15000 annually for irrigation was recommitted re-committed to the Committee on Agriculture Agri-culture and Irrigation. Senator bill No. 62, by Lawrence provides pro-vides that when any city of the first or second class levies a special tax or assessment as-sessment for public improvements the City Treasurer may issue negotiable If the two bills introduced by Senator Park Friday become laws the result , will be a complete reorganization of the National Guard of the State. Senator Park will also shortly Introduce a bill providing for the erection of an armory without which he says the State cannot can-not keep a National Guard much longer. S. B. No. 64 provides for the reorganization reorgan-ization of the medical department and the signal corps. The medical department depart-ment is to have four officers, all practicing prac-ticing physicians, and thirteen noncommissioned non-commissioned officers and privates. S. B. No. 65 will cut down the Guard to one regiment of Infantry, one troop of cavalry, one battery, a signal corps, hospital corps and retired list. A regimental regi-mental band is also provided for and provision made for the Increase of the force in case of war or insurrection. Provision is also made for an increase of pay for militiamen while on duty or in camp. Both bills were referred to the Committee on Military Affairs. The Committee on Irrigation reported on its visit to the office of Engineer Swendsen. Two reports were made on House bill No 2. providing that every Juror summoned sum-moned in a Justice's court should re- scrip against the fund to. be used, the scrip to make a lien against the property prop-erty affected, but to. be canceled upon the payment, with interest, of the special spe-cial tax or assessment. The bill was referred to the Judiciary committee. Senate petition No. 2, by Senator Larson, at the request of twenty Indian war veterans, asks that th Legislature make some recognition of the services fi i!!1?"8 ot the Indian wars of 1860 and 1867 and that a memorial be addressed to Congress asking for thirty days pay for those who took part in the two campaigns. fZrLil Xl ,raProvement of the road City to Brighton s. |
