Show MORE INDICTMENTS IN , OREGON LAND FRAUDS PORTLAND. Feb. 11. Two Indictments were returned by the Federal grand Jury l!St evening by one of which the long-drawn-out Investigations into the dealings deal-ings of the Butte Creek Land, Lumber 4: Livestock company were brought to a close, while the second added another mark to the list now against the names of Henry Meldrum and his associates. The Indictment ayalnst the Butte Creek company and some of Its employ (Vs charges a conspiracy to prevent and obstruct ob-struct the free pasag- over and free use of certain of the public lttnds situated In. Wheeler county. The document also alleges al-leges that rhrc-ats of violence and other means of intimidation were used to drive legitimate homesteaders already settled on the land from the vicinity. As defendants, the indictment names Wlnlock W. Stel-wer. Stel-wer. Hamilton H. Hendricks, Clarence B. Zachary. Adelbcrt C. Zachary. Charles A. Watson. Clyde K. Glass, Congressman Ringer Hermann, former United States District-Attorney Hall. Edwin Mars, Franklin P. Mavs. Clark E. I.oomls and Edward D. Stmtf'.rJ. The second indictment is against Henry Meldrum. George E. Waggoner. Davis W. Klnnaird. Benjamin F. Minton, Gustavs K. Lateseh. George Sorensen. Levy Stipp and Frank H. Duncan. It is brought under un-der the same section of the revised statutes stat-utes of the I'nited States as the foregoing, and alleges that the defendants conspired to defraud the Government of the Vnlted States 6y false and fraudulent surveys.
