Show COUNTIES ARE COOPERATING IN FIRE PROGRAM Twenty-four of Utah's twenty-nine twenty-nine counties are cooperating with the state board of forestry and fire control in the state-wide program pro-gram for control of. fires on state and privately owned lands, according accord-ing to Mr. John E. Burt, Jr., assistant as-sistant forester-fire warden for Utah. It is hoped that the remaining remain-ing five counties will enter the program soon to give the program 100 per cent backing by all the county commissions in the state, said Mr. Burt. Through a cooperative agreement agree-ment between the state of Utah and the United States department of agriculture under the Clarke-McNary Clarke-McNary act of 1924, federal reimbursement reim-bursement is ' allowed to states which support a state fire prevention pre-vention program. Through agreements agree-ments between the board of forestry for-estry and fire control and the counties, this money is being prorated pro-rated to the counties, based on need and county participation. Our aim is to eventually be in a position posi-tion to reimburse the counties for fifty per cent of monies expended by them for fire prevention and control on state and private range, forest, and watershed lands, concluded con-cluded Mr. Burt. f |
