Show Firemen Join In , i Hunt For Child Lost, Sunday Members of the SpringviUe Volunteer Fire department rank in importance with the family doctor when it comes to an emergency, it would seem from reports received this week. When the 2-year old daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter had been missing for a dangerously long time Sunday, assistance from the fire department depart-ment was solicited. The fire siren blew and the volunteer "minute men" left every kind of occupation to join in the hunt. When the child was found a few minutes later, several blocks from home, the firemen returned to their work with the heartfelt thanks and appreciation appre-ciation of all concerned. The only renumeration firemen fire-men receive for such service is the satisfaction of rendering aid to some one in need. For their service during fires, they are paid but often not enough to cover the cost of cleaning their water soaked clothes. These men are truly deserving of the appreciation of the entire en-tire community and a word of praise now and again for their fine volunteer work. |
