Show Notifiable Diseases In Utah On Decrease The health of the people of Utah, from the standpoint of notifiable noti-fiable diseases, has improved considerably con-siderably during the " past week with only 371 resident cases of notifiable diseases being reported to the State Department of Health. For the previous week, local health officers and physicians reported a total of 649 resident cases. That, of course, represents a decrease of 278 cases in the period considered. Th main decrease has taken place in measles. This week, only 272 cases were reported and last week there were 528 cases. This is the time of the year when measles cases ordinarily decrease quite rapidly and we hope that the trend shown this week will continue. Last week, one nonresident case of typhoid fever, was reported in the State and the need for ex- tensive typhoid fever immunizations immuniza-tions was pointed out in order to protect people against thisr disease. The first resident typhoid ty-phoid fever case in the State was reported this week from Salt Lake City. The infection was probably contracted from a typhoid carrier. Diphtheria cases continue to be reported in fairly large numbers even though this is the season of low incidence of the disease. Five cases have been reported this week .bringing the total for the year to 83. Only one of the five this week occurred among children. The other four are a-dults a-dults ranging from early adult age to 52 years of age. |
