Show TEACHER EXCHANGE MY EXTEND TO SOUTH MIERICA The United States office of edu-I edu-I cation and cooperating agencies are working with governments of Latin-American countries on reciprocal re-ciprocal agreements to place American teachers in schools "south of the border," Dr. Paul E. Smith, Washington, D.C., reported re-ported Sunday. Discussing the "inestimable value" of the exchange teacher program, Dr. Smith, assistant to the director of international educational edu-cational relations, U. S. office of education, said a number of Latin-American Latin-American teachers have been placed in U. S.. schools but that thus far reciprocal arrangements have not been made. He said the exchange program, operating now between the United States and several nations of the British commonwealth, some day may be extended over the entire globe. Dr. Smith pointed out that American teachers , who have taught ,in foreign schools under the exchange plan are "better" teachers for having acquired a broadened view of world problems. "We feel we are making at least a, dent in international understanding," under-standing," he said. |
