Show HARDY AVERETT FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, in the Fourth ward chapel, for Hardy Averett, 90, one of Springville's oldest residents resi-dents and a well known sportsman, sports-man, who died Saturday, of ailments ail-ments incident to his age, at the family residence. Burial was in the City cemetery, under direction of A. Y. Wheeler and Son mortuary. Born January 5, 1S58, in Springville, Spring-ville, a son of the early settlers,, Jedithan and Jane Singleton Averett, he has lived here most of his life. For a number of years, he did carpenter work being employed on many homes and public buildings in this vicinity. He had always been interested in-terested in sports events and seldom sel-dom missed the annual deer hunt. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Perry Averett, died in February 1939. For the past few years, he had made his home with a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elva Averett. Survivors" include a daughter, Mrs. Will Child and a son Thomas Averett, both of Springville. There are also 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. I |
