OCR Text	Show Emergency Voice ... Celebrating her successful emergency emer-gency appearance at New York's Metropolitan Opera, 28-year-old Astrid Varnay lets out with a melodic note of relief. She got home from shopping one recent evening, too tired to cook supper for her husband, and the Met called for her to substitute for Helen Traubel as Isolde in Wagner's Wag-ner's Tristan and Isolde. Miss Traubel had lost her voice. So 40 minutes later Astrid made her seventh appearance in the rolp in seven vears.
