Show GENEVA PAYS BIG PERCENT OF ALPINE DIST. TAX The Geneva Steel plant pays 5 per cent of all taxes in the Alpine Al-pine school district which includes in-cludes everything in Utah county north of Provo according to figures submitted by Alpine Superintendent Super-intendent D. R. Mitchell. His figures were submitted in connection with the proposed $1,-450,000 $1,-450,000 building fund bond issue for the school district, on which taxpayers -will vote Mar. 8. - - A combination of Geneva, utilities utili-ties and o.ther corporations in the district will pay for 77.5 percent of the issue, Mr. Mitchell declared. The district proposes to pay for the issue in 12 years by adding an extra four mills on its tax levy. Officials declare the program is an absolute necessity to maintain an adequate school standard, and claim the burden will not be great on the average taxpayer. Only taxpayers tax-payers can vote in the election. |
