Show DENTAL SERVICE FOR VETERANS EXPIRES DEC. 31 Veterans Administration has advised ad-vised Utah veterans who have been out of service for one year or less that their entitlement to medical and dental treatment on the basis of prima facie evidence of service connection expires at midnight, Dec. 31. After that date, the veteran, even though he has been out of service less than a year, will be required through adjudication to prove that his dental problems resulted re-sulted from or were aggravated by his military service before treatments treat-ments may be authorized. Under the present liberal policy, VA has ibeen authorizing dental treatment for veterans within a year of separation from service on the assumption that their cases will be adjudicated as service connected. con-nected. If adjudication proved otherwise the VA canceled further treatments .but paid for those pro- ivided prior to disallowance of the' veteran's claim. On application filed after Dec. 31, 1947, all claims for dental treatment must be formerly for-merly adjudicated before treatment treat-ment can be authorized. VA explained that veterans will have had a full year after President Presi-dent Truman's announcement of cessation of hostilities as of Dec. 31, 1946 in which to secure treatment treat-ment on presumption of service connection. There has been ample time, it was pointed out, for emergency emer-gency or clearly defined service-connected service-connected case3 to receive treatment. treat-ment. A dental clinic is maintained for both examinations and treatments at the VA regional office in Salt Lake City. In other communities examinations and treatments are provided through hometown dentists den-tists who are paid by VA. Application may be filed at the regional or any VA office. Applications Appli-cations for outpatient medical and dental treatment received or postmarked post-marked before midnight, Dec. 31, 1947, will receive consideration for examination and treatment. |
