Show Two Mapleton Men Are Called On Missions Mapleton is making plans To Lid two young men of their city farewell, prior to their departure for L. D. S. missions mis-sions in the Centra! Slates. Howell Pershing Newman, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Newman, and George Wm. Pate, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Pate, have each accepted calls and expect to leave for the mission home in Salt Lake City on Monday, January 4. After a few days' training at the home, the young men will depart for the mission headquarters. In their honor, the Mapleton ward is planning a farewell program pro-gram in connection with their Sunday evening services on January Janu-ary 4, to which all members of the ward and friends of the boya and their families are being invited. Both boys served their country during World War II, Elder Pate having served a year with the Air Corps, while Elder Newman was with the Marine Corps. Both are graduates from the SpringviUe high school, where they took prominent part in scholastic activities. activi-ties.
