Show Townspeople Ready Plans For Christinas Holiday Schools Close Today For Holiday, Will Reopen January 5; Business Houses Will Remain Open Late For Last Minute Shoppers With only a few hours remaining for townspeople to complete their last-minute shopping and arrange details for the annual Chris tmas holiday, a spirit of keen anticipation, Amixed with a feelinsr of relief is being experienced by store clerks, postal employees and all other individuals in-dividuals who have been engaged in the "big seasonal rush." Taking the place of the "rush", will be the cutsomary social entertainment en-tertainment which has become a tradition for most people during the holidays, with plans well underway un-derway for family gatherings, visits, and community church and group entertainments. All business houses will be closed for the Christmas holiday but a majority of them will remain re-main open late this evening for the convenience of those people who must have, "one more gift." Schools of the town closed today to-day for the holidays giving students stu-dents and teachers nearly two weeks Christmas vacation. They will return to class work Monday, Mon-day, January 5. Several events have already been given in the community marking this year's pre-holiday season. On Monday evening, the high school vocal music department, under direction of Golden Hanson, gave an exceptional rendition of Handel's "Messiah'', before an appreciative ap-preciative audience. While Dad sets up the Christmas tree and Mom begins the hanging of bright-tinseled trappings, children watch with eager ' lonfrings and . . . offer a helping hand. Representative of families throughout Springville and Maple- ton as well as in many other cities today, are Mr. and Mrs. O. J. "Doc" Peay (pictured above) as they decorate their Christmas tree at their home, 666 North Main St., in preparation for the festive holiday season.
