Show What better time than Christmas time . . . t wish you all the good things in life! ED JOHNSON (jWVETERAN'SFRIENyJ 1 Q. When a disabled veteran is given a disability compensation rating by the Veterans Administration, Adminis-tration, how long a period does he hold that same rating? A. It depends on his disability. Generally speaking the disability compensation awarded to a veteran vet-eran will tontinue as long as his disability 'is not improved or cured completely. At the present time ' most veterans are being called in . by the Veterans Administration j for re-examination and re-rating I under the 1945 Rating Schedule which was recently put into effect. ef-fect. Ordinarily veterans with am-1 am-1 putations will find their ratings 1 remaining the same, while others 1 with malaria attacks or other j handicapping illnesses will be called in at various intervals for examination to determine if the rating should be decreased, remain re-main the same or perhaps be increased. Q. Is a veteran whose disability was incurred before July 25, 1947 the official end of World War II entitled to wartime, compensation compensa-tion rates? A. The Veterans Administration has ruled that he is only if he entered the service before Dec. 31, 1946 which was the date that the President issued a proclamation ending "hostilities" in World War II. If a veteran entered the service serv-ice after Dec. 31, 1946 or his injury in-jury occurred after July 25, 1947, he is entitled to compensation at peacetime rates. However, the higher wartime rates may be applicable ap-plicable to peacetime service if the disability claim is based on extra-hazardous service or simulated simu-lated warfare.
