Show CHERRY PICKERS NEEDED IN LOCAL ORCHARDS Boys And Girls Not Working Asked To Register Immediately According to Paul C. Miner, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, every girl and boy in Springville over twelve years of age who is not working, should register at the local employment office to assist with the cherry harvest. Besides doing a patriotic service, ser-vice, people who assist with the cherries are earning 2 cents per pound for picking, and at this rate can make very good wages, it was reported. Truckloads of boys and girls are being transported from other towns daily to assist with the cherries, but growers are still in need of many more pickers to save their crops, according to the Chamber secretary. |
