A daughter Edna who lives at Blanding was unable to attend. The officers nnd teachers of the Mapleton ward Relief Society were entertained at the home of Ruth Anderson Wednesday evening of lost week. Assisting the hostess were Mabel Paulson, Iris Dibble and Beth Jensen. The evening was spent in doing needle work for the coming bazaar and in visiting. Refreshments Re-freshments were served. He was presented with a l0Vely birthday cake by KOVO Ra-! Ra-! dio station in Provo. In the even-i even-i -nC the members of his immediate family met to enjoy social chat refreshments. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (.early In the evening at a table beautifully decorated with red' sweet peas. Covers were laid for Ada Lee, Mabel Hansen, Iris Dibble, Dib-ble, Iva Snow, Barbara Murray yen Allen, Amanda Binks, Louise Jensen, LaNore Bills, Beth Jensen and the hostess. Mrs. Warren was assisted by her daughters Glenna warren and Mrs. Maxine Dyett Following supper a book review of Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights' was given by Amanda Binks. Camp Union DUP met at the home of Catherine Ann Jensen Friday. Captain Erma Hjorth was in charge. The lesson was given by Irene Freeman. Refreshments were served to 14 members by the hostess hos-tess who was assisted by Doris Halvorsen and LaRie Warren. Collin Allen is home after completing com-pleting a two year mission to the Hawaiian Islands. A welcome home will be given for him on Sunday evening March 20 in the church. A fine program has been arranged to which the public is cordiallv invited. in-vited. The members of the Mapleton ward Relief Society enjoyed a Smorgasbord Tuesday commencing at 12:30. Each member was asked to bring a favorite recipe which resulted in a great variety of dishes dish-es and added a' lot of interest to the birthday party of the organization, organi-zation, which is an annual affair. Beth Jensen introduced the program pro-gram which followed the luncheon. lunch-eon. Helen Campbell gave a reading; read-ing; Bonnie Gividen and Mabel Paulson sang a vocal duet; Orpha Dee Johnson was in charge of a stunt entitled "John Holley's Night Club" in which Alma Whiting Whit-ing played a violin solo; Beth Jensen Jen-sen sang; Iris Dibble was the reader; read-er; Murel Cox and Marge Grone-man Grone-man presented a dance number and Catherine Ann Jensen gave a tap dance. Acting as proprietor and wattress were Rhea Williams, Bonnie Bon-nie Gividen and Afton Barker. Norma Cox was at the piano. Wanda Holleyof Salt Lake City was a Sunday visitor at the home of her father John I. Holley. Mr. and Mrs. Blair Binks and baby son of Salt Lake City were Sunday dinner guests at the Norris T. Binks home. Mrs. John Whitely (Ruth) and three boys are spending two weeks at the home of her father John I. Holley while her husband is taking tak-ing training in the Marine Corps in California. Ruth and her husband hus-band have been making their home in Fort Collins, Colorado. ' Mrs. Eva Bird entertained the members of the Mapleton DUP at her home Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Bird gave a history of her mother and Marva Whiting gave the lesson les-son on "Indian Tribes' Dealings with the Mormons". Poems were read by Clydo Doprain. . Jussiating the hostess in serving 18 club members were Georgia Plumlee, Ruby Jensen and Clyde Despain. - Mr. and Mrs. Lester W. Hansen have returned from a delightful trip to Caldwell, Idaho where they have been guests of their son Paul and his family. They were gone a week. Mrs. Lora Bird had a group of friends at her home Friday afternoon after-noon for a quilting. A beautiful triple tulip quilt was made. Mrs. Millie Bird of Provo assisted her in serving refreshments to fourteen four-teen guests. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bohne of Fairview in company with Mrs. Lora Bird were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Waldon Hurst. Mrs. Bohne is a sister of Mrs. Bird and of Mr. Hurst. Miss Alice Williams has been a guest at the home of her sister and her husband Mr. and Mrs. James Allen. She accompanied them on their trip to San Francisco Francis-co The Mapleton Second ward Relief Re-lief Society held their annual birthday birth-day party Monday afternoon in the church in the form of a Smorgasbord. Smorgas-bord. President Zora Hales was in charge of the program which fol-lomed fol-lomed the lunch. Participating in the program were Patsy Curtis and Lucille Davies who gave a can can dance; "Shuffle and Rag" dance was given by Jana Lee Whiting Whit-ing and Patricia Denney; Jana Lee Whiting also danced a ballet num-Der; num-Der; uiadys Johnson gave a short history of the Relief Society; Evelyn Eve-lyn Allen sang a solo; Erma Hjorth read a story and Alma Whiting played two violin selections. Helping on the food committee were Edna Lindsay, Jessie Larsen, Clara Graham and Lucy Jones. Marilyn Tuttle arranged the program. pro-gram. i Quite a group of young boys and girls of the Mapleton wards were baptized Sunday in the ward font. They are Carol Jensen, Barbara Jensen, Allan Dibole, Jack Parry, Kent Pulsifer and Duane Brown from the Mapleton Ward and Ronald Ron-ald Kelsey, Ellen Hjorth, Beth Ann Johnson, Brett Johnson, Gwen Singleton, Sin-gleton, Eugene Chidester, Ha Whiting Whit-ing and Sharon Ann Wiscombe. Mrs. Mary Halvorsen was honored hon-ored with a family dinner at the home of her son Merrill Sunday at which most of her children and their families were present. Mrs. Halvorsen will be 85 years old on Thursday the 17th. Covers were laid for Mrs. Myrtle Ashby of San Larenzo, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Mer-rill Halvorsen and family and Joe Halvorsen of Mapleton; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Halvorsen and son Raymond Ray-mond of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Halvorsen and family find Mr. and Mrs. Leland Halvorsen Halvor-sen of West Jordan, Clyde Morten-sen Morten-sen of Springville and Mr. and Mrs. James Halvorsen of Spanish Fork.
