Show Funeral Services Held in Calif. For Roe A. Deal, 78 s Word was received in Springville Spring-ville Tuesday of the death of Roe A. Deal 78, a former resident of Springville, who passed away on March 10, at Tujunga, Calif. Mr. Deal was born in Springville Spring-ville November 25, 1876, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Romanzo Deal. His father was reportedly the second white child born in Springville, his grandfather and grandmother, John W. and Eliza Crandall Deal being among the first families arriving ar-riving here in 1850. He spent his early life in Springville Spring-ville and received his education at school here and at Utah Agriculture Agricul-ture College at Logan. From 1894 to 1912 he engaged in railroad con- struction in Utah and other western wes-tern states. He later ranched in Canada and then returned to Springville purchasing the Rosemary Rose-mary Fruit Farm, famous for cherries. He operated the farm until un-til 1920, when it was purchased by the A. W. Cherringtons. Mr. Deal married Louise Rorich in 1898. In 1948, they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. She died in 1951. He was engaged In contracting, selling and defense work until his health failed about four years ago. Funeral services were conducted at Glendale, Calif., March 12 directed di-rected by the Bishopric, Reed Cal-lister, Cal-lister, Richard H. Thorn and Dr. Lockwood Hales. Mrs. Cora Thorn Bird was a soloist. The body is being creamated and sent to the A. Y. Wheeler and Son Mortuary for burial in the Evergreen cemetery later in the year. |
