Wendell Averett, nee Shirley Leyshon Reception Honors Couple Wed Manti Temple; Making Home In Springville One of the loveliest of late autumn weddings was that of pretty Miss Shirley Leyshon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Leyshon and A'. Wendell Averett, son of Mr. and I Mrs. Ruphus Averett of Springville. Spring-ville. The young couple were wed in the Manti LDS Temple on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, October 24, and the following fol-lowing evening they were honored with a wedding reception in the stake house. The bride was - charmingly gowned in traditional white satin fashioned with a standup collar of lace, which also decorated the bodice and was emphasized in flaring panels in the back of the train-length skirt. Sleeves on the gown were long and pointed, and the bride carried a bouquet of baby orchids and stephannotis with satin ribbon ties. Mrs. RaNae Snyder attended the bride os matron of honor, while the Misses Elaine and Evelyn Eve-lyn Leyshon, Lois Mann and Ann Whiting were bridesmaids. Keith Averett stood as best man to his brother, while train-bearer and flower-girl' at the weding were little Billie Snyder and Annette Searle. All were in formal attire and the ladies wore nose-gays of gardenias and tiny mums. Completing the receiving line at the reception were the parents of the newlyweds. Mrs. Leyshon choose light blue for her daughter's daugh-ter's wedding, and Mrs. Averett was attired in a darker shade. Their corsages were of gardenias and rose-buds. v A nicely arranged program entertained en-tertained the guests, with Gerald Boyer as toastmaster. Miss Ann Merie Fry gave a vocal selection; Joe and Jean Smith, a vocal' duet, and Marie Fullmer and Catherine Ann Holley a dance number. Harvey Har-vey Hutchinson of Payson, uncle of the bride, entertained with a vocal number, and Joan Marsh gave a reading. A toast to the bride was given by Mrs. Beth James, and to the groom by Robert Rob-ert Rasmussen. Dainty refreshments emphasizing emphasiz-ing the colors of pink and white were served under direction of Mrs. Hazel Harrison, from small tables centered with rose-buds in tiny vases. On the dining table, which was covered with an exquisite linen cloth, was the wedding cake, three tiered with decorations of pink and white roses and wedding bells, and topped with a miniature bride and groom. On either side were tall pink tapers. Mrs. Marie Stone, Mrs. Maggie Wood, Miss Nila Ruth Tingey and Mrs. ' Arthella Warner were in charge of the gift room. Serving were: Vida Reed, Marilyn Miller, Joan Oakley and Joan Kelley. Acting as host and hostess were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hutchinson. Mrs. Riley Norton was in charge of the gift book. The young couple spent a few days in southern Utah after their wedding, and are now at home in Springville. Both are graduates of the Springville high school, and Wendell Wen-dell has just recently returned from an LDS mission. |
