Show MEXICAN SITUATION SHOWS IMPROVEMENT In arriving at decision to start up its smelting plant again At Arelardena, American Smelting officials were influenced influ-enced by improvement they found in the Mexican situation, after a thorough investigation in-vestigation of conditions below the border, bor-der, says the Boston News Bureau. Operations Op-erations at Mexican mines have shown steady improvement. They are running at about 80 per cent of normal. Practically Practi-cally the same rate has been attained at the four Mexican smelting plants now active. Earnings from company's Mexican Mexi-can properties under normal conditions averaged about $S a share annually on common. American Smelt fug's Globe works at Denver has suspended lead smelting owing ow-ing to decreased ore production in Colorado Colo-rado district. It was found plants at Pueblo, Lend vl lie, Du range and Blend were able to handle all the business. Several Sev-eral hundred men were thrown out of work at Globe, which has continued op-orations op-orations on a small scale, handling byproducts. |
