AFTER seven months as a representative represen-tative of Utah with the Y. M. C. A. serving with the American expeditionary ex-peditionary forces in France, Miss Eva Bechtel, 33 Bransford apartments, apart-ments, former teacher in the East high school, has returned home. She gives high praise to the American doughboy as he appeared overseas. Miss Bechtel went to France in February Febru-ary last, following her selection by the National Federation of Women's clubs, and entered the Young Men's Christian association service. She was stationed most of the time at Biarritz and other, leave areas on the southern coast of France. There are several American families at Biarritz who extended the hospitality of their homes to the soldiers and the women workers, Miss Bechtel said. Before returning re-turning to Salt Lake she visited friends in the east. "I always know when a soldier has served overseas," Miss Bechtel declared. "A happy smile is ever the characteristic of the men who went through the mill in Belgium and France." |
