Show TRADES CONGRESS IS FOR DIRECT ACTION GLASGOW, Sept. 9. The proponents of direct action for the enforcement of labor's demands won a victory on the first vote relating to the subject which was taken by the trades union congress here at today's session. The parliamentary parliamen-tary committee's report waa referred back to it because it did not express an opinion on direct action, the vote being 2.5S6.000 for the motion to refer and 1,870,000 against. The motion to refer the report bade to the committee was made by Robert Smillie, the miners' leader. G. H, Stuart Dunning, secretary of the postmen's federation, who is presiding i over the congress, declared that the vote on the motion did not preclude the bringing bring-ing up later of a definite resolution on the subject. The vote Is regarded aa tantamount to a vote of censure of the committee. |
