Show PRESSURE LINE CONTRACT LET City Commission Awards I Work to P. J. Moran for $184,199. Tlie city commission yesterday awarded tho contract for building the pressure line to connect the high line conduit now under un-der construction from the mouth of Parley's Par-ley's canyon to a point near the mouth of Emigration canyon, with the distributing distrib-uting system of the city waterworks, to P. J. Moran, contractor. The low bid, entered bv Mr. Moran, was S1M.1M.15. The line, which is to traverse Sunny-side Sunny-side avenue, is to be of cast iron pipe. Contract for laving the sewer extension. No. 3S5. on Tenth East street, Herbert, Yale, McClelland and Harvard avenues, was awarded to Mullings & palm for Jb093.49. For the construction of the proposed new west side fire station at Xinth South and Post streets, five bids were opened bv the commission and referred to Fire Chief YV". H. Bywater for tabulation and report. Commissioner Karl A. Poheid introduced intro-duced an ordinance to provide for the establishment of civil service in the public safety department. It was laid over for two weeks. The ordinance would provide for the creation of a civil service commission com-mission of three for the department, two men, qualified voters and taxpayers, to be selected by the commission to act with the public safety commissioner, all three to give bond of $2000 and to serve without pay. Action was again deferred for one week on the resolution offered by Commissioner Herman H. Green for the appointment of a commission to investigate the rents charged by apartment house proprietors. |
