Show OGQEN BOY HAS NARRDWESCAPE Falls Under Car and Is Saved From Death by Motorman. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Oct. 1. Van Dunn, D years of age, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Dunn, narrowly nar-rowly escaped death beneath the wheels of a Washington avenue car at the corner cor-ner of Twelfth street and Washington avenue, at 12:30 o'clock today, when he j ran in front of the car, which was slowly moving. Quick action by Motorman ft. ; Loner saved tho boy from being ground ! to death. ! As Lobcrt was moving by, the j Luiiin hoy ran around the other oar and into tin- front of Loner's car, striking lits head against the headlight with such force that the glass was broken and he was hurled to the ground under tho car. Lober threw on the emergency brake and dropped tho safety fender. The car was u topped within less than fifteen i inches. ! Ix)ber then jumped from the car, drew ' tho boy from under the car, and, after 1 placing him on board, started immedi- ately for the city. Upon reaching Twen- , , i y-fourth st reet the boy was carried to , , the office of Dr. B. R. Dumke and was jj later taken to the hospital, i! Dr. Dumke said the boy's injuries con sisted of a scalp wound about six inches long in the back of the head, a cut inside in-side of the upper Hp and small cuts upon tho face and side of the head. lie said tho boy would bo able to leave the hos- pital within a few days, j ' The witnesses to the accident have 1 commended tho cool and prompt action of Motorman Lober. both In stopping his car and rushing tiie boy to the city for medical attention. |
