Show SALT IE STOP IH U DERBY Committee Chosen to Check Arrivals and Departures of Fliers. Salt Lake has been selected a stopping stop-ping place for airplanes in an aerial derby around the world, and three Salt Lakers have been selected as referees, according to an announcement made yesterday yes-terday at the Commercial club, following the receipt of a communication from Captain Charles J. Glldden of New York, executive secretary, in charge of the flight arrangements. The local men chosen to act as judges are L. B. McCornick, who will act as chairman of the referee committee; com-mittee; Fred Goodcell and L. w. Sowles. According to the message, the flight is planned to begin Immediately. The telegram tele-gram follows: "The commission appointed by the Aero Club of America, and the Aerial League of America to organize an aerial derby around the world requests that you appoint a board of referees, consisting consist-ing of three prominent men in your organisation, or-ganisation, who will act in co-operation with the contest committee In checking arrivals and departures of aviators, and also in checking the arrivals of any aviators who may desire to make a flight to or from your vity. "Such actio;) will aid much in encouraging encour-aging filers to and from your city and wiil aid much i:i the advancement of aviation.
