Show presbyterians begin victor drive Churches in United States Expect to Raise $40,000,-000 $40,000,-000 Tomorrow. Thirteen million dollars an hour for three hours sounds a good deal like fiction, fic-tion, but that is just what the Presbyterian Presby-terian churches of the United States will endeavor to pledge tomorrow atternoon for their victory fund. Every Presby- ( terian in the United States will be canvassed can-vassed during hours after the morning services tomorrow by an organization that extends lrom New York City to San Francisco. The Ft v. Henry W. Burger, president of Westminster college, is in charge of the movement for Salt Lake. Each church has Its committee and subcommittees sub-committees that will make their reports tomorrow evening. The forty millions which the Presbyterians Presby-terians are to raise will be devoted lo the various needs of what is to be known as the New Era movement. Among tiiese is aid for returning soldiers, the rebuilding rebuild-ing of Protestant churches In France, many sorts of overseas woik, home missionary mis-sionary work, religious education, care for disabled ministers and general com- muniiv work by the individual churches. Such is the completeness of " the organization or-ganization for the drive that full returns from all districts are expected for publication pub-lication on Mond;;v. Already committees have obtained pk'vlges from many of the wealthier members of the church, and it Is confidently expected by those in charge that the desired Jcrty million dollars will be heavily oversubscribed. |
