B. Cady, state director, yesterday. The i county has promised $130 a month and the state has agred to duplicate the amount. This is stated by Mr. Cady to be a sufficient aopropriation to maintain main-tain the activities of the bureau until congress can meet aain and appropriate a sum for its maintenance. The number of employees of the bureau will be reduced in connection with the move. Two stenographers and two male employees will be released. The force j will now consist of Mr. Cady, Archie ! Craig' and Mrs. Addie A. tfoper. The ! -women's employment bureau will be coordinated co-ordinated with the men's. A similar change will bo necessary in the Ogden branch, under the direction of Henry YV. Beckett. For this department an appropriation-of S25' a month has been promised by the city commissioners and a similar amount by the county commissioners. commis-sioners. Free quart ers for the bureau have been offered in the Rcd hotel. A number of the expenses of the branch will be borne by the Salt Lake bureau. A report of the activities of the bureau for the six months ending February 28. compiled recently by Mr. Cady, shows that 5961 men have, been reported as placed in positions tli rough tiie bureau. Registrations for employment amounted to StiTo, and 11.&6S positions were offered by employers. Six thousand seven hundred hun-dred and thirty-eight men were referred to positions. In the women's department 1703 were placed in positions, 3000 registrations were recorded, 2S64 positions offered and 2198 were referred to positions. |
