Show EXPECT M'GAFFIGAN TO 'MAKE' COYOTES Special to The Tribune. j ( SACRAMENTO. Cal., March 21. Watch Bill Rodgers and his meaters go from now on. All last year Bill limped along without a shortstop, and his team this year has been complete for ten days except ex-cept that he had no shortstop. Today Bill put over a deal that landed him Marty McGaffigan of the Philadel-! Philadel-! phia Nationals. Marty used to play with t Vernon and he is a swell little fielder. Rodgers has played alongside some fast-stepping fast-stepping shortstops in his time, and he was handicapped all last year because he did not have a good man to work with. McGaffigan will just about make the Sacramento club. Rodgers has lined up some flossy fling-ers, fling-ers, big fellows who can stand the gac and who have already proved that they can win in this league; and now he has landed McGaffigan he is all ready to go. The Sacramento fans have felt for weeks that if Bill could only land a shortstop the club would look as good as any in the league. |
