Show JARVIS CLEARED OF CHARGE TO DEFRAUD On motion of T. D. Lewis, counsel for the defendant, the case of the United States against W. H. Jarvis, charged with conspiracy to defraud by the use of the United States mails, was dismissed yesterday yes-terday by Judge Tillman D. Johnson in the federal court. Jarvis was held for the action of the grand jury last May and the case not having been presented to the jury last month, because of the lack of evidence to convict, it became automatically subject for dismissal. The charge against Jarvis was based on the alleged fact that as manager of the International Exhibit & Sales company he offered for sale Indian lands in a section sec-tion of Oklahoma where, it was alleged by the government, there are no Indian lands for sale. Indirectly, it was alleged, by the use of the malls, Jarvis solicited buyers for the lands by representing the International Exhibition and Sales company com-pany to be an agent of the government, i |
