Show Joymaking in Pittsburg. PITTSBURG. Pa., Nov. 11. Pittsburg prolonged its roaring, confetti-throwing celebration of the armistice signing a full twentv-four hours. Starting at 3 a. m., when the whistles of one of the city's largest munitions plant sent out Its scream of jubilation, arousing everyone within a radius of five miles, till long after midnight, whistle-blowing, bell- ringing, shouting and paper-scattering had no abatement. Mayor Babcock proclaimed the afternoon after-noon a legal holiday and everyone took advantage of the liberty extended to a joyful people. All downtown street cars were detoured I during the afternoon and evening to make room for the parades and throngs of celebrators. |
