Show ASK RECOUNT OF NEW YORK VOTE Application for Inspection of Ballots to Be Made by Whitman. NlBW YORK, Nov. 11 Governor Whitman Whit-man will tumorrmv make application for an Iimpectlon of Hie ballot cast at the recent Htate election, "that there may never be any doubt uh lo the result" of the gubernatorial icontest, according to an announcement made tonlMlit after a conference con-ference at the headquarter of the Republican Re-publican state committee. Among those attending the conference were Governor Whitman and George A. Glynn, chairman of the committee. On relurnine here today from Chicago. Oovfcrhor Whitman made public a letter from Mr. Olynn, In which the latter asserted as-serted "figures unofficially reported to us," exclusive of the soldiers' vote yet tn be canvassed, would indicate a plurality plural-ity In favor of Alfred K. T"The vote Is so close, and so many people are unconvinced as to the accuracy of the reported result, that we feel it our dut) to ask you to make application for an examination of the ballots." Replying to Mr. Glynn's letter, Mr. Whitman said in part: "In such n larKe vote the possibility of mistakes Is apparent, particularly In view of t!i" somewhat complicated nature or the ballot end of the new system of danvusslng, which was In effect for the first time this year.
