TEMPLARS PRESENT i Rector Dwells on History of Parish; Large Congre-1 Congre-1 gations in Attendance. Deconsecration services marked the ; passing- of Easter Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal church last night. Special prayers wore said, prepared for the oc- ' casion by Bishop Daniel S. Tuttle. under un-der whose direction St. Paul's was built. Both the morning and evening services were largely attended, the attendance at the morning service testing the capacity i of the historic edifice as never before. The farewell to the old structure was impressive, im-pressive, and many eyes were dimmed with tears as the final words abandoning the structure, which all had learned to love, were spoken. Seventy of the members of the Utah commandery. Knights Templar, attended 1 the morning service In a body, marching Into the church promptly at 11 o'clock. The musical programme was of unusual excellence. One of the most impressive numbers was the selection on the harp by Mrs. II. K. Boothby. Solos were sung 1 by Miss Gladys Fisher, Miss Rose Howard, How-ard, Miss Minnie Miller and II. M. Bar-rait. Bar-rait. Miss Ruth Bellemere presided at the organ. Much, of the morning service was repented re-pented at the evening service and final farewells were said. Tomorrow the work of moving to the new parish house at Third South and Ninth East streets wiU be begun. This building will be used for church purposes until a modern church edifice can be constructed. The present church property was purchased about one year ago oy V. II. Swanson of the American Amer-ican Theater. Its original cost was $25,000, and Mr. Swanson paid JU'2,500 for it. A Happy Coincidence. A happy coincidence was disclosed at the morning sen ice when the Rev. J. H. Dennis brought out the fact that members of" the local Masonic lodge assisted in the laying of , the cornerstone cor-nerstone of St. Paul's church. The presence of a large number of the members mem-bers of the Knights Templar was significant sig-nificant as reviving this historical fact. In the procession of Masons taking part in the ceremony were Frank Tilford, grand master; R. X. Baskin. deputy grand master: mas-ter: John T. Lynch, senior grand warden; William F. James, junior grand warden ; Samuel Kahn. grand treasurer; Christopher Christo-pher Diehi. grand secretary; John S. Scott, grand chaplain; George C. Douglas, Doug-las, grand lecturer; George A. Black, grand marshal: John F. Hardy, grand standard bearer; Charles Popper, grand sword bearer: J. G. Sutherland, grand senior deacon; H. W. P. Mareary. junior grand deacon;.. G. Sutherland, senior grand stwartl; Samuel Paul, junior grand steward, and William Snowed, grand tvler. The address was deliverd bv Judce Tilford. In the course of his .deconsecration sermon ser-mon yesterday morning :;e Rev. Mr. Dennis said : 'For well-night two score years this church has stood in this pl?.ce, a constant con-stant rem nder of the thinsrs which are not seen and are eternal, while its surroundings sur-roundings have testified with ever-increasing emphasis to the power of things v. hich are seen and. are temporal. "It may be trite, but it is true, nevertheless, never-theless, to .say that if these walls possessed pos-sessed a spirit whih could embody itself in human flesh, and could express itself in human speech. the tale which it misht unfold of human experience wit hi n this church would be of surpasfrinir interest.
