Show BIRD LECTURE GIVEN BY DR. C. G. PLUMMER Webster School Pupils Furnish Music and Display Exhibits; Programme Repeated Tonight. An interesting programme was rendered before a large audience of patrons and friends of the Webster school at the school last night. The chief feature was an address on bird life by Dr. Charles O. Hummer, profusely illustrated by photographs photo-graphs made bv the speaker. Folk and patriotic songs were rendered by pupils of the school, under direction of Miss Ethel Havward and Miss Cora Moreton. One of the pleasing features of the en- terrainment was the very extensive dis-i dis-i plav of art and nature work executed by the' pumls. The third floor corridor was filled with bird suggestions, all relating to the birds of the swamps and alkaline flats of Salt I-ake valley. The exhioit consisted of drawings, paintings, cuttings, modelings, verses and letters. Hundreds of birds" cut from naper were suspended from the ceiling. On the lower floor sixteen six-teen boxes, each containing one of the water or shore birds studied in its natural natu-ral habitat, were arranged with unusual lighting effects. The meeting and exhibit were arranged bv n. TV. Parratt. principal, and a committee com-mittee consisting of Miss Ethel Havward. Miss Ida Sconherg and Miss TVinnifred Thornp. The programme will be repeated at 7:r.O o'clock tonight, with a vocal solo by Miss l.ola Schrack and music from other groups o," pupils of the school. The public is invited. |
