Show SUGAR COMPANY WILL BUILD BIG COAL SILO Special to The Tribune. J BRIG HAM CITY, Feb. 26. In order to reduce the waste in coal caused by having to dunp it along the tracks, the Amalgamated Amal-gamated Sugar company will soon begin work on the erection of a large silo near the sugar factory that will have a capacity ca-pacity of 7000 tons of coal. Heretofore, in storing coal during the summer (or the winter campaign, the company has dumped the coal along the railroad tracks. To keep it from catching on fire from the dampness, the coal has been turned and turned, at great expense as well as waste. The silo will be 535 feet long, 70 feet wide and 6 feet high, and will be constructed of concrete. The coal will be kept wet continuously until used, thus eliminating the danger "of smouldering smoulder-ing and burning. |
